Autism Across the Life Span, scheduled for November 6-7, 2009, at the Hilton Wichita Airport Executive Conference Center, will address the pressing needs of families, rehabilitation professionals, service providers and educators with special relevance to communities throughout Kansas. Five overarching program strands—Community Living, Employment, Transition, Social Skills /Behavioral Supports and Early Education—will offer both breadth and depth for anyone working with, caring for or caring about a toddler, school-age child, teenager or adult with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Evidenced-based practices will be the theme of the program content.
Who Should Attend
- Families of young children with autism will benefit from the Early Education strand and those with children approaching adulthood or who are currently adults will be interested in the Employment or Transition strands. All families will also be interested in the Social Skills /Behavioral Supports strand.
- Educators of younger children with autism will benefit from the Early Education strand and secondary teachers and transition coordinators will find a rich array of sessions in the Employment, Transition and Community Living strands. All educators will be interested in the Social Skills /Behavioral Supports strand.
- Direct-service professionals, residential providers, job coaches and vocational rehabilitation counselors/employment service providers will be interested in the Community Living, Employment and Transition strands as well as the Social Skills/Behavioral Supports strand.
- Speech and language therapists, social workers, occupational therapists and other related service providers who work with children and adults with ASD will find many sessions that meet professional learning and CEU requirements.
Note on CEUs (Continuing Education Units) Certificates of Attendance and appropriate conference information will be made available for all of those attendees self-reporting CEUs.
