Finding and Keeping the Right Job For People with Autism

Wendy Parent, Ph.D., Research Associate Professor and Assistant Director, Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities

This session will describe strategies to assist job coaches with making a good job match and designing instructional techniques to promote job performance and retention. Creative strategies for customizing the placement process and providing individualized supports during initial training and on- going follow-along will be presented.

System Navigation

Assisting adults with autism who do not have access to formal, paid support systems to utilize community and natural supports to build an independent and self-determined life. This includes learning to navigate generic community supports, developing a goal-oriented person-centered plan, developing a plan for independent living, finding and keeping a job, and developing social support networks.

Workshops are from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm / Cost: $60 per person, lunch provided.

Workshops take place at the KU Edwards Campus.Directions. Check back for room numbers.
